“Some of the best experiences of listening to music that I’ve had have happened not at a concert – although I’ve had some fantastic moments there as well – but alone, in my bedroom, with a pair of good headphones and a free afternoon. There’s something so relaxing about being perfectly physically comfortable and not on display, as many people I’ve spoken to have told me they feel in a formal concert hall.
We took 20 ordinary people and helped them realize how extraordinary they could be. We co-created a show together called “LAYERS, Ordinary people doing extraordinary things”. LAYERS is Vancouver’s first AcroYoga show. The hidden lives of the talented performers in this show will be illustrated through their performances because in reality most of us are not professional acrobats. We are professional people, seeking to fill ourselves up through the joy of AcroYoga and we want to share that with you.
The Neuroscience of Embodied Mindfulness: Being is Enough by Shivani Wells.
In the summer of 2013, I sustained a brain injury that forced me to drop out of school and take a significant amount of time off work. Many people are aware that a concussion can lead to headaches, nausea, dizziness, pressure in the head, difficulty focusing, and sensitivity to light and noise, but not everyone knows that anxiety and depression are also common symptoms. I had every symptom in the book and was also in a lot of physical pain.
For as long as I can remember, movement has always been a major part of my life. From many years of training in dance, to pole & circus arts to 8 years of competitive downhill skiing; it’s a lifestyle that I have continuously chosen to embrace through time. In the last 5 years of my physical practice, I’ve been involved in a lot of more high impact activities, which eventually lead me on to seeking Pilates as a way to help keep my body stable and prevent injury.
